Tear trough fillers are injectable treatments that use hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers to add volume to the under-eye area. This helps reduce the appearance of hollows, providing a more refreshed and youthful look.

You will see immediate results after the tear trough filler injections, with full effects becoming more apparent as any initial swelling subsides. The results typically last between 6 to 12 months, depending on individual factors and the type of filler used.

Tear trough fillers are injected into the hollows under the eyes to fill in volume loss, smooth out the area, and reduce shadowing. The hyaluronic acid in the fillers also attracts and retains moisture, improving the skin’s hydration and texture.

The treatment works best for someone with deep hollowness under the eye. By reducing this hollowness the undereye can look fresher as there is less shadowing caused by the hollowness. The results are subtle and we never try to fully remove the hollowness as this can appear unnatural.

The undereye area has its undesirable appearance due to:

1. Thin skin – The paper thin skin makes the area translucent and hence the blood vessels can be seen through the skin. This can give a darker/purple appearance to the undereye. Tear trough treatment will NOT treat this issue. We normally advise good quality medical skin care,  Microneedling facials and polynucleotides which can slightly improve this.

2. Puffiness – Water retention or fat herniation in the area can cause puffiness and tired looking appearance. Tear trough filler will NOT help with this. We would advise medical grade skin care, microneedling and surgical option to deal with this issue. 

3. Dark circles from pigmentation – Some clients have Dark circles due to the skin under the eye being pigmented. This therefore gives a darker appearance. Tear-Trough Filler will NOT help with this concerm. We would normally advise medical grade skin care to reduce pigmentation, Microneedling and IPL laser. 

4. Hollowness – By lifting hollowness under the eye. The shadowing is reduced which can help make the area look refreshed. The results are subtle and natural. For most effective results we recommend combining with cheek filler, Crows feet Botox and polynucleotides.”

You may experience some swelling and tenderness for a few days after the treatment. It's important to follow aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner.

At your initial appointment we slowly build up the area and in fact underfill the area. This is because tear trough filler is hydrophilic and absorbs lots of water. We give the area 2-4 weeks to settle and naturally lift and settle down. After this period we provide a top up appointment at a reduced rate to give the area a final lift. After this period we advise booking in for a full treatment every 9-12 months.
