Moving up the strengths

Most people start on strength 3, or strength 1 if their skin is very sensitive. Experienced vitamin A users can begin on strength 6. Medik8 recommends using at least one tube of your current strength before moving up to the next. You don't need to phase in again when you step up a strength. If you feel any sensitivity in the first two weeks on strength 24, use less or apply it every other night.

How to use

In the evening, after cleansing, apply 2 pumps to the face and neck and let it absorb. Follow with a moisturiser, and use sunscreen the following morning.

Phase it in gradually: use it twice a week for the first two weeks, every other night for the next two weeks, then every night. A patch test at least 24 hours before first use is recommended. Reduce frequency if dryness or irritation develops.

Strengths 20 and 24 have a peachy tint. Let the serum absorb fully before contact with light-coloured bedding, and apply a moisturiser over the top.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Medik8 cannot give advice on medical conditions such as pregnancy and recommends speaking to your GP or midwife before use. Medik8 generally recommends avoiding vitamin A while pregnant or breastfeeding. Bakuchiol Peptides is a plant-based alternative.

HOW TO USE

First-time use

If you're new to Crystal Retinal we recommend a patch test at least 24 hours before first use. Learn how to patch test here.

Phase application in gradually. Use twice a week for the first 2 weeks, every other night for the next 2 weeks, then every night.

Step 1

After cleansing in the evening, apply 2 pumps of Crystal Retinal to the face and neck. Allow to absorb.

Step 2

Follow with a moisturiser. We recommend Advanced Night Restore which is engineered to be used after vitamin A (retinoids).

Step 3

Always use a sunscreen the next morning after using vitamin A. We recommend Advanced Day Ultimate Protect.

We recommend using at least 1 tube of your current Crystal Retinal strength before moving up the ladder to the next strength.
