Dr Motox • At-home skincare technology

The main difference between Shark CryoGlow and Shark CryoGlow Clinic is the under-eye technology and range of options. The original CryoGlow combines LED skincare routines with under-eye cooling. CryoGlow Clinic adds alternating warm-and-cool under-eye contrast therapy. Choose the Clinic Face + Body system if you also want the separate LED panel for areas such as the neck, chest, back and hands.[1]
When choosing an LED mask, start with what you want to improve and how easily the device will fit into your routine. Extra features are useful when you will use them consistently. They are less useful if they simply make choosing your daily routine more complicated.

What is the Shark CryoGlow LED mask?

Shark CryoGlow is an at-home LED face mask with red, blue and infrared light, alongside a separate under-eye cooling function. Its programmed routines are designed to help improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture and blemishes, depending on the mode selected.[2]
The original mask has three LED routines:
- Better Ageing: a six-minute red and infrared routine for the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Blemish Repair: an eight-minute routine cycling through combinations of blue, red and infrared light for the appearance of blemishes and uneven texture.
- Skin Sustain: a four-minute maintenance routine designed for use after an eight-week initial programme.
Its InstaChill under-eye function offers adjustable cooling and can be used with an LED routine or separately. This is a distinct feature from the LED treatment itself.[2]
What is Shark CryoGlow Clinic?

CryoGlow Clinic is Shark’s newer range of at-home LED devices. The Clinic face mask retains LED routines and under-eye cooling, with the addition of warm-and-cool contrast therapy. Shark also offers a separate Clinic Body Panel and a combined Face + Body system.[1]
The Clinic face mask’s core options include Ultimate Anti-Ageing, Balance & Clear, Daily Skin Defence, Under-Eye Revive and a dual-temperature under-eye routine. Combinations of these options create the customisable routines advertised by Shark.[3]
The word “Clinic” is the product name. These are devices for home use; buying one does not mean you are receiving a personalised clinical treatment.

Which Shark LED mask is right for you?
Consider the original CryoGlow for facial LED and cooling
If your priority is a straightforward facial LED routine with under-eye cooling, the original CryoGlow provides those features. Compare its current price with the newer models before deciding. If you already own it and use it regularly, identify a specific extra feature you want before upgrading.
Consider CryoGlow Clinic Face for under-eye contrast therapy
If alternating warmth and cooling is an important part of the experience you want, the Clinic face mask is the option to compare. You can choose the face-only model without purchasing the body system.

Consider Clinic Face + Body for a broader routine

If you want to use LED on the face and areas such as the neck, chest, back or hands, look at the combined system. Make sure the Amazon listing explicitly includes the body panel. A face-only Clinic mask and the Face + Body bundle are different purchases.[1]

Consider the Clinic Body Panel for body LED without another face mask

The separate Clinic Body Panel is the option for LED routines on the neck, chest, back and hands. It does not include a face mask or under-eye cooling and contrast therapy. If you already own a facial device, this may be the more relevant addition to your routine.[4]

What do red, blue and infrared light do?
Shark uses different combinations of light for different skin goals. Red and infrared routines focus on the appearance of ageing skin, including fine lines and wrinkles. Blue light is included in blemish-focused routines. Shark’s original CryoGlow technical guide lists blue at 415 nm, red at 630 nm and infrared at 830 nm.[2]
Those wavelengths describe the light being used; they do not, by themselves, tell you how well every device will work. The complete device, programmed dose, fit and consistent use all matter. Results from one particular mask should not automatically be applied to another.
How quickly can you expect results?
Cooling and longer-term LED results should be considered separately. Under-eye cooling is intended to refresh and depuff the area during a session. Changes in skin appearance from LED are assessed over weeks of regular use.
Shark reports improvements after four weeks in studies of the original CryoGlow: its Better Ageing study involved 59 participants using a six-minute routine once daily, and its Blemish Repair study involved 60 participants using an eight-minute routine once daily. These are manufacturer-reported findings, and individual results vary.[2]
For CryoGlow Clinic, Shark cites a 12-week study involving 59 participants using the six-minute anti-ageing routine once daily, including four-week assessments. That does not establish that everyone will notice the same changes or that the device will address every cause of a skin concern.[1]
How to fit a Shark LED mask into your skincare routine
- Read the instructions and contraindications first. Check the guidance for your exact model.
- Cleanse and dry your skin. Use the mask on bare skin as directed.
- Choose the routine that matches your main concern. Follow the programmed session rather than extending treatment time.
- Finish with your usual skincare. Keep the rest of your routine comfortable and manageable.
Shark’s Clinic guidance advises one LED routine per day. Stacking several LED sessions is not the recommended way to accelerate results.[5]
Who should check suitability before buying?
Read the full model-specific safety information before purchase. Shark lists exclusions including pregnancy or breastfeeding, melasma, certain eye and light-sensitive conditions, and medicines or supplements that cause photosensitivity. There are also specific restrictions for cooling and for skin that has not healed after a procedure. This is not a complete list.[3]
If you are unsure about a medicine, skin condition or recent treatment, ask your clinician to review the manufacturer’s instructions with you. An LED mask is not a substitute for assessment of persistent or worsening skin problems.
Frequently asked questions
Is CryoGlow Clinic better than the original CryoGlow?
It offers additional features, especially warm-and-cool under-eye contrast and the option of a separate body panel. Whether those additions are worth buying depends on your priorities, budget and how often you will use them.
Does every CryoGlow Clinic include the body panel?
No. The Clinic face mask is available on its own. Choose a listing explicitly described as the Face + Body system if you want both devices.[4]
Can I use it with retinol?
Use the device on clean, bare skin and follow its instructions. Shark advises seeking medical advice if retinol is causing sensitivity or irritation. Do not assume that adding LED while your skin is irritated will improve tolerance.[6]
Does Shark CryoGlow emit UV light?
No. Shark states that CryoGlow’s red, blue and infrared light does not include UV.[2]

Shark CryoGlow Christmas gift guide: choosing an LED skincare gift
Looking for a Shark CryoGlow Christmas gift for someone who enjoys skincare and beauty technology? The most useful choice is the model that fits their existing routine. Whether you are considering the original CryoGlow, a CryoGlow Clinic face mask or the Face + Body system, check what they already own and which features they would actually use.
For someone starting an at-home LED routine: Shark CryoGlow
The original CryoGlow combines facial LED routines with under-eye cooling. It is an option for a skincare enthusiast who wants those features without adding a separate body device. Before choosing an LED face mask as a Christmas present, make sure the recipient wants one and can use it according to the manufacturer’s safety guidance.

For someone who wants under-eye contrast therapy: CryoGlow Clinic Face
For a beauty tech Christmas gift focused on the face, the Clinic face-only model adds alternating warmth and cooling to its under-eye options. Choose this version if they are interested in contrast therapy but do not need a body panel.

For a face-and-body skincare gift: CryoGlow Clinic Face + Body
The Face + Body system is the option to consider when the recipient wants both a facial mask and LED routines for areas such as the neck, chest, back and hands. Check the bundle contents carefully so your Christmas gift includes both the face mask and the body panel.

For someone who already owns an LED face mask: Clinic Body Panel
A standalone body panel may be a more useful skincare gift than another face mask. The CryoGlow Clinic Body Panel offers body LED routines without including a facial mask or under-eye therapy. Check the listing’s included controls and accessories before buying it as a separate gift.

What should you check before buying a Shark CryoGlow Christmas present?
- Suitability: check the model’s full contraindications with the recipient, particularly if they have a relevant condition or take photosensitising medicines. The safety section above explains where to start.
- The exact product: distinguish the original CryoGlow, Clinic Face, standalone Body Panel and Face + Body system.
- The seller and gift arrangements: check the current price, included accessories, returns policy and any gift receipt options on the listing.
- Christmas delivery: check the arrival estimate for the recipient’s address at checkout. Availability and delivery dates can change; this guide does not promise delivery before Christmas.
Choose around the recipient’s interests rather than treating a skincare gift as a suggestion that their skin needs fixing. A device they have asked for, with features they understand, is more likely to become part of their routine.
