The Dr Motox Exosome Collagen Sheet Mask for Face & Neck is designed as a hydration staple, not an occasional emergency product.
Each biocellulose mask carries 30ml of essence over the face and neck and combines humectants, barrier-supporting ingredients, soothing botanicals and peptides. It is designed for dry, oily and sensitive routines because hydration is a skin need rather than a skin type.
Its most useful benefits can be understood by looking closely at the ingredient list. Some ingredients attract water, some help the outer skin barrier hold onto it, and others condition the surface so skin looks smoother and more radiant.
This guide explains what the key ingredients can realistically do and what they cannot.
The hydration ingredients
Glycerin
Glycerin is one of skincare’s best-established humectants. A humectant attracts and holds water in the outer skin. This can improve softness, flexibility and the feeling of tightness.
It is useful for dry skin, but also for oily skin that feels tight or dehydrated after cleansing or active products.
Sodium hyaluronate
Sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid.
It binds water at the skin surface, helping dehydrated lines appear temporarily softer and the complexion look plumper.
Topical hyaluronic acid formulations have demonstrated measurable improvements in hydration
Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide
Tremella polysaccharide comes from snow mushroom. It is a water-binding ingredient.
Its most defensible role in this formula is supporting surface hydration and a smoother skin feel.
Ingredients that support the skin barrier
Niacinamide
Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, supports the processes skin uses to maintain its barrier.
Research links topical niacinamide with reduced transepidermal water loss (the invisible movement of water through the skin) and improved outer-skin hydration.
Ceramide EOP
Ceramides are lipids found between cells in the outer barrier. Like mortar between bricks.
Ceramide EOP supports this lipid layer.
Allantoin
Allantoin conditions and comforts the skin.
Soothing botanical ingredients
Centella asiatica, sometimes called cica, contains compounds studied for soothing and skin-supporting activity.
Aloe barbadensis leaf extract adds further soothing and humectant properties.
Collagen, peptides and adenosine
Hydrolysed collagen
Hydrolysed collagen mainly acts as a surface humectant and conditioner. It can help skin feel smoother and look temporarily plumper.
The "Trio peptide blend"
The formula contains acetyl hexapeptide-8, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7.
palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 (also known as Matrixyl ) Acts as a "signal" peptide that tricks skin cells into thinking natural collagen has broken down, stimulating fibroblasts to produce more collagen
palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 - Provides anti-aging benefits comparable to low-strength retinol but with much less irritation or redness. Paired with Matrixyl this creates matrixyl 3000.
Acetyl hexapeptide-8 (also known as Argireline) targets the same protein snare complex involved in neurotransmitter release that triggers facial muscle contractions, earning it the nickname "Botox in a bottle"
Adenosine is a naturally occurring cell-signalling molecule used in cosmetics for smoothing and conditioning. In this mask it belongs to the longer-term appearance-support group, rather than being responsible for the immediate hydration effect.
How it supports different skin types
- Dry skin: use regularly to replenish water, then follow with moisturiser to help slow water loss.
- Oily or congested skin: use for lightweight hydration, particularly when acids or foaming cleansers leave the skin tight. Hydration does not create oil.
- Sensitive skin: the formula contains several comforting ingredients, but it also contains parfum and preservatives. Patch test first because “suitable for sensitive skin” never means every individual is guaranteed to tolerate it.
- Retinal or acid routines: make the mask part of a recovery night. Read our Medik8 retinal beginner guide and salicylic-acid introduction guide for sensible scheduling.
How to use the mask as a skincare staple
- Cleanse and dry the face and neck.
- Apply the face and neck sections and smooth the biocellulose onto the skin.
- Leave in place for 15–20 minutes.
- Remove and massage in the remaining essence; do not rinse.
- Follow with moisturiser when more barrier support is needed. In the morning, finish with broad-spectrum SPF.
Use it routinely. commonly once or twice weekly. Whenever the skin needs extra moisture support.
Frequently asked questions
Is the mask suitable for oily skin?
Yes. Oily skin can still lack water. The mask provides humectant-rich hydration without requiring a rich cream, although individual tolerance always matters.
Does hydrolysed collagen rebuild skin collagen?
No. Its main topical role is conditioning and water binding. It can improve surface smoothness and temporary plumpness, but it does not replace collagen in the dermis.
Can it be used with retinal?
Yes. It works well as a regular hydration step or on a recovery night between retinal applications. If skin is already irritated, pause retinal and focus on a simple routine.
Why cover the neck?
The neck is often missed even though it is exposed to cleansing, active products and ultraviolet light. The face-and-neck format supplies the same 30ml essence across both areas.
